Pregnancy & Postpartum

If you’re struggling during pregnancy, postpartum, or parenting, you’ve come to the right place.

Every mom deserves support on their journey to and through motherhood. If you’re feeling depressed or anxious, know that you are not alone. While many parents experience some mood changes during or after the birth of a child, 15 to 20% of women have more significant symptoms of depression or anxiety.

If your symptoms persist for a few weeks or interfere with daily activities, it’s time to ask for help.

What is a PMAD?

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD) is the term used to describe distressing feelings that occur during pregnancy and throughout the first year after pregnancy. Without treatment symptoms can worsen, however, in all cases a PMAD is treatable.

You may have a PMAD if you have several of the symptoms listed below that are intense and last longer than 2 weeks.

  • Feeling intense anger or irritability
  • Trouble falling asleep or sleeping too much
  • Difficulty concentrating or remembering things
  • Difficulty making decisions
  • Loss of interest in caring for yourself
  • Loss of appetite or overeating
  • Inability to carry out daily tasks
  • Frequent urge to cry or crying spells
  • Loss of interest in things you previously enjoyed
  • Withdrawal from friends or family
  • Lack of energy
  • Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
  • Upsetting thoughts that you can’t get out of your mind
  • Feeling anxious or “panicky”

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, let’s talk. You are not alone and you are not to blame.
